The story
Todi Ragini holds both tenderness and sorrow. She is the heroine deep in love, her veena resting against her shoulder as she walks the hills — and only the wild deer, drawn to the sound, can hear her longing melody. Flat layers of cool colour carry the landscape into the distance so that nothing pulls away from the quiet ache of it. One of the best-loved of the Ragamala moods, painted in my own hand.
