The story
Phool Ragini — the heroine with a flower. Art historians read a bloom held in the hand as a sign of cultivation, often balanced against the power of a sword. But why the lotus? Its petals open as the sun rises and close as it sets; it stands for creation, fertility and purity. The long stem is our innate cord to our own beginning, and the flower the enlightenment each of us reaches for. She holds a lotus bud among broad leaves and open blooms, veiled in red over an indigo choli.
