The story
Dhanashri Ragini — the quietest of the moods. Clad in gold and lilac, the nayika sits on a terrace of the Rang Mahal drawing a portrait of her beloved, who is far away; an inkpot rests at her side. Her confidante, in orange and green, sits before her and counts over the qualities of the absent one. The emptiness of the painted hall, arch within arch, is the whole feeling of the piece — longing given a room to sit in.
