The story
Daali — a bough, in Hindi. A young branch leans into the corner of the envelope, its leaves painted vein by vein in the botanical manner of the miniature tradition, green over green with the light left in. A sprig of new leaves has always stood for a beginning — and every letter is one. Painted by hand in watercolour on an envelope of handmade paper, so that what you send arrives as a gift before it is ever opened.
