The story
Bela — in Hindi it names a blossom, and it also names an hour, as in saanjh ki bela, the moment the day softens into dusk. These small flowers climb the corner of the envelope in exactly that colour, dusk-purple on white handmade paper, each petal laid in with a fine brush. Painted for the letters that get written at that hour — the unhurried ones, the ones that say what a message never quite can.
